ASU is widening access to Arizona’s diploma seals
Arizona high school students can now use an ASU course toward a state diploma seal and earn transferable ASU credit in the same course.
High school students have only so many hours in a week. ASU Learning Enterprise wants more of those hours to count toward college, and a course the state already recognizes is one way to get there.
With these courses, students can earn an Arizona diploma seal and ASU credit in one course. Fundamentals of Personal Finance counts toward the personal finance seal. American Government and Politics and Public Service and American Democracy count toward the civics seal. ASU faculty teach all three ASU courses for Arizona diploma seals, and they’re the same courses ASU undergraduates take.
A student who’d be the first in their family to go to college can start an official ASU transcript before applying anywhere.
What this means for schools
Schools can offer the courses in the classroom through Accelerate ASU dual enrollment, which works with more than 800 high school partners. Districts and charter schools that already award diploma seals can add these courses to their seal pathways. Schools that don’t award the seals yet can sign up with the state each year.
