Accelerate ASU opens doors for Fountain Hills students through dual enrollment

Accelerate ASU is changing futures with dual enrollment

Accelerate ASU is opening doors for high school students across the country, including at Fountain Hills High School, where students can earn college credits before graduation.

At Fountain Hills High School, students are earning college credit and discovering new academic possibilities thanks to a growing partnership with Accelerate ASU, Arizona State University’s dual enrollment program.

Through the collaboration, Fountain Hills now offers 54 dual enrollment courses, allowing students to earn both high school and university credit simultaneously. Two students recently featured in ASU’s Thrive Magazine, Avery and Shania, are prime examples of how early college access can transform confidence, career direction and college readiness. Both will graduate with at least 16 college credits, giving them a strong head start on their postsecondary journeys.

Accelerate ASU’s model is intentionally flexible. Students like Avery and Shania, who balance sports and other extracurricular commitments, can complete courses at their own pace—supported by high school educators and ASU faculty. This combination of online college-level coursework and in-person guidance helps learners manage their academic goals alongside busy lives.

The program’s impact is expanding beyond high school. ASU Prep is now working with Sierra Vista Unified School District to offer dual enrollment to middle school students in grades 7–12. These younger learners now have access to courses like engineering, physics, and economics, helping them prepare for college years before they graduate high school.

By combining flexibility, support and relevance, the program helps students see college as possible—and themselves as ready.
